Where this is: Salento and Filandia are two towns in the Quindío department of Colombia, in the Coffee Cultural Landscape — a UNESCO World Heritage site. Salento is the gateway to the Cocora Valley. This is not Salento in Puglia, Italy, which is what most English speakers picture first.
Salento and Filandia sit 25 kilometres apart in Colombia’s Quindío department, and between them they hold more coffee shops per resident than anywhere else in the country. They also hold more tourist traps: along Salento’s main street there are places charging specialty prices for mediocre coffee, betting that you are here for one afternoon and will never come back.
We did not visit these places in person — we say that up front. This list was built by cross-checking public Restaurant Guru listings in August 2026 and filtering on two hard criteria: a rating of 4.4 or higher and at least 40 reviews. The second matters as much as the first. A 5.0 with nine votes means nothing; a 4.8 with three thousand means a lot.
They are not ranked best to worst. Each one suits a different plan.

Salento
Café Jesús Martín — 4.8, 3,018 reviews
The reference name for specialty coffee in Quindío and, by a wide margin, the most reviewed place in either town. They roast their own beans. If you are only going to walk into one place in Salento and you want to know what well-made regional coffee actually tastes like, this is it.
Finca El Ocaso — 4.9, 2,599 reviews
Not a café: a working coffee farm with a guided tour. You see the picking, the depulping and the drying, and it ends with a cupping. It is the classic mid-morning plan in Salento and the highest-rated attraction in the municipality by volume of reviews.
Café Bernabé Gourmet — 5.0, 2,194 reviews
A flat 5.0 with more than two thousand votes is rare in any category anywhere. Food and coffee.
The rest of Salento
María Ocampos (4.8, 724) is a café-bar with a full kitchen, for when the plan involves eating. Kiwi Kafé (4.8, 554) is among the best rated of the town’s smaller places. PanArte Café (4.9, 461) is a bakery-café, a combination that usually disappoints in Salento and here does not. Collarejo (4.9, 215) does coffee, cacao and guided sensory tastings rather than walk-in service.
Filandia
Filandia is where people go once they already know Salento. Fewer crowds, the same painted balconies, and a coffee scene that proportionally has nothing to envy.
Nómadas del Café — 4.9, 675 reviews
The highest rated in Filandia with enough votes behind it to trust the number.
Agua Bonita Coffee Tour — 4.8, 126 reviews
Filandia’s equivalent of El Ocaso: a farm tour rather than a café. If you are basing yourself in Filandia instead of Salento, this is your coffee-process morning.
The rest of Filandia
MOCAFE (4.5, 557) has the most reviews in town. El Tesoro de Bremen (4.8, 315) and Café Filandia’s & Claudia Café Bar (4.6, 265) both clear the filter comfortably. Two more make the cut on rating with thinner volume: Neblina y Granos (4.8, 115) and CoffeecolBean Roastery (4.8, 61), the latter roasting on site.
How this list was built
We started from every Restaurant Guru listing in the “café” category for Salento and Filandia, retrieved on 11 August 2026, and dropped anything below 4.4 stars or 40 reviews. Of 39 listings reviewed across both towns, 25 cleared the filter; the 12 above are the ones with the most votes behind them.
What this guide cannot tell you: we did not visit, so there is no first-hand judgement on extraction, roast or service. The ratings belong to third parties and they move. And there are good places missing simply because they have few reviews — in towns this size, that happens.
FAQ
Salento or Filandia for coffee?
Salento has more choice and far more review volume — Café Jesús Martín alone has 3,018. Filandia has fewer people and places rated just as highly, like Nómadas del Café at 4.9. One town only: Salento. Both: leave Filandia for day two.
Can you visit a coffee farm in Salento or Filandia?
Yes. Finca El Ocaso in Salento (4.9, 2,599 reviews) and Agua Bonita Coffee Tour in Filandia (4.8, 126) are the two best rated in the area. Both walk you through picking, processing and drying, and finish with a tasting.
Is Salento worth it just for the coffee?
The Cocora Valley is what fills the buses, but the coffee here is not a souvenir add-on: this is the Coffee Cultural Landscape, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the farms in the guide are working farms. Roasters like Jesús Martín hold ratings above 4.8 across thousands of reviews, which is not typical of tourist-town coffee anywhere.
